The Power of Staying Positive

With having a chronic illness you are constantly being thrown difficult trials. Having several chronic illnesses myself, its been the hardest thing I have ever been through. Even though I struggle, I always get asked how I stay so positive and how I have a great attitude through all of this. Everyone has their bad days or something they are going through, its how you handle the bad situations that show how strong of a person you truly are. Here are ways that I power through difficult trials with positivity.

  1. Never let yourself go to the dark place.

It is easy to give up and say I am done fighting, but its more satisfying to keep pushing in attempts to get your life back. Yes staying positive is the hard choice, but having a good life is worth it. You know you deserve to live your life, and unfortunately we have to work for it. Don’t give up. keep fighting and stay positive. When your brain is presented with something, instead of tearing it apart with negatives always try to find the positives in it. Just remember, pick the positive route on anything thrown your way.

2. Know that what you are going through will make you stronger.

Being chronically ill hardly ever gives you an easy break. You usually feel miserable and tired. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I truly believe being ill has made me a stronger person. Because of what I am going through I have showed strength in myself I never knew I even had. I could sit here and tell you all of the negative aspects of being chronically ill, however, there are positives through this and being stronger is definitely the biggest one I can take from it.No matter what you are going through, in the end run you will come out of your situation even stronger of a person than before.

3. Surround yourself with positive people.

When you are around positive upbeat people, your views and attitude will be influenced by your loved ones. If they are always negative and very down, then you will be very negative and down. That will make what you are dealing with even more arduous. I have been around negative people while being ill and it truly does effect you. It is hard to be optimistic that you will get through tough times when others are doubting you. How can you be positive when you have no one around cheering you on?

4. Put positive feedback into a friends life.

Sometimes focusing on someone else and their challenges can take your mind off of yours for a bit. When you are giving positive feedback to a friend when they need it, then they will more than likely give it back to you when you need it. It is all about creating a positive environment around you. Even though you are going through something, you never know what another person is going through and a smile to a stranger could brighten their whole day. It is all about sending positivity, and it should start with you.

It is easy to give up and say I’m done, I can’t do this anymore, but keep pushing in attempts to get your life back. You deserve to live your life. Don’t let your mind go to those dark places, always choose the positive route. Know that what you’re going through will make you a much stronger person. Surround yourself with positive people, they will be a good influence on your attitude towards your situation. Put positive feedback into their lives. Don’t give up. Keep fighting and remember to always stay positive.

  2. Suffering can be a way of connecting people together. Everyone is suffering from something whether it be physical or spiritual/emotional things. Its a reminder that we are very human and not bulletproof.

    1. You are exactly right, everyone is going through something. And I believe it starts with you to uplift others around you to create a positive environment. It does connect people. Thank you for the feedback!😊

  3. Positivity is very important. I had a friend who had cancer. That didn’t kill him though – he died from being negative. We could see it happening but couldn’t bring him round and though the cancer was holding steady, his health declined in line with his depression. Easy for me to say – I wasn’t the one who was suffering – but sad and frustrating to see.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. Unfortunately it is hard to stay positive when you are suffering, especially when you’re suffering for a long time it’s hard to keep fighting. And you’re exactly right it Is very hard to witness. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

  11. Hiya McKenzie and thank you for visiting my blog yesterday. It lit up a very tired day for me.
I do so believe in the power of staying positive…..o.k., one might slip ever now and again 😊 , but up we go and see the beauty around and feel the love from friends and family or just passers by.
To make our expectations and plans within the new limits instead of someone else’s. Tor each out and create a successful blog like this is a very positive step.
You go, I send you a hug
