In life, we get handed dark times. However, even in the darkest times, it is possible to still find light through it. At times it may seem absolutely impossible when you are handed tough, after tough situations. I have several chronic illnesses, and I have daily appointments, and constantly hurting, but I am here to tell you no matter the circumstance, it is possible to still be Thankful. Here are things to be Thankful for.

  • Your support system.

One of the best feelings in the world is knowing you have people by your side. They have been there for you through thick and thin, and supported you through every step of the way. Having people in your life that loves you unconditionally, is an enormous reason to be Thankful for.

  • Beautiful sceneries.

There are beautiful sceneries that can be truly breathtaking. At times when you are struggling, it is crucial to stop and just smell the roses, and that means appreciating the simple things in life. Some sceneries can forever paint a picture in your mind that you’ll never forget.

  • Things that make you smile.

No matter what you’re going through there is always that one person, your pets, or something you watched or read that will put a smile on your face. Whatever that thing that makes you smile is something to hold on to. It’s okay to not always take life so seriously, and find something that makes your heart smile. That is definitely something to be Thankful for.

  • Your favorite food or dessert.

We all have that one guilty pleasure of a snack that after a long hard week, we just need to eat it. Mine is ice cream, it always makes me happy and cheers me up. I’m thankful for my favorite ice cream, for always making my belly happy.

No matter what you’re going through, you can always find the light during dark times. Instead of dwelling on the arduous things you’re going through, stop and look around at the good things going on in your life. Stay strong, stay positive, and always be Thankful.❤

  1. Thank you for sharing. What an inspirational post. Knowing that there are others who are going through the same, similar or just as difficult life journeys helps to see life differently. One thing I can say is that sometimes people do not cherish life until something drastic happens. I have to say I am one of them. As my life has never been perfect, experienced, unexperienced, and more. I want to, what people to be a part of, and as a child should never have to at such a young age. Until I was diagnosed with my chronice illness 12 years ago I look at life differently. I already looked a life in another way, but now that I am older and blessed to be still alive I have more passion of life and not to take things so seriously, and there is more to life than what it is providing.

    1. You are 100% correct! Unfortunately i was that way as well. I tried to live life to the fullest but never fully cherished life. I’m so sorry to hear you were diagnosed as a child. But we do learn to appreciate life more. I hope for peace and wish the best of blessings for you.

      1. Likewise. Life gives everyone a portion of multiple experiences. It’s what we make of it that makes a difference. Every decision we make affects someone in our life whether they are family, friends, colleagues, etc. I wasn’t diagnosed as a child, my apologies if that what it implied. I have to proofread better, hahahaha. I was diagnosed as an adult. However, after further research, I had all the symptoms and dealing with the trials and tribulations as a teenager, and no one could find anything until it became full-fledged as a young adult. All the same, it still took until the past few years and more over the last 6 months that opened my eyes to life again in a different way. Every day is a new day and brings new experiences but more joy and happiness. My prayers go out to you and may you have a beautiful future. Perseverance is another key to life, Shalom!

  2. I followed you over from Walt’s suggestion, and I’m glad I came. It’s so hard to find positive thoughts in a negative world, until we realize that only a little bit of the world is negative. You have chosen my favorite things, too. Keep it going — you’re good for all of us!

  3. Great post Mackenzie! It is so true that even when going through a hard time it is important to look forward! I strongly believe that staying positive, even when you are struggling with pain or illness, is so important. It does not do any good to think about the negative and allow it to control your life. You deal with so much daily and still put that beautiful smile on. Congratulations on doing your guest blog! Continue staying strong it will pay off!!! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and I hope you are feeling well! Much Love!!!!

So much this! I honestly don’t know what I would do without my husband and close friends. My parents live in another country so I don’t get to see them very often, but we talk on the phone all the time and their support is amazing. I feel truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
