The moment you hear your diagnosis for the first time,
your breath that you lost, is something you try to find.
You finally figured out why you’ve been suffering for so long,
you try not to react, you just strive to stay strong.
Tears unwillingly welt up in your eyes,
all you want is a long life, that’s the end prize.
You look weary into your loved ones eyes,
you just pray they won’t abandon you, through the lows and the highs.
You wonder what you ever did to deserve this,
life before your illness is something you will forever miss.
Now you will never take life for granted,
each moment with your loved ones will be in your brain, forever planted.
You work hard to have a new normal life, every second of everyday,
even though life is not handed to you, you know you will be okay.

Hey Mackenzie, you have a way with words. I believe the biggest stress reliever for me was getting a diagnosis. I have four autoimmune disorders and they all came with their own symptoms and frustrations. After getting a diagnosis, I felt like I could breathe.
Your life is a gift even when it comes with complications. You are going to live a productive life. Live it to it’s fullest!
Thank you so much, Brenda! I appreciate that! It’s a huge stress reliever to receive a diagnosis. I now have 4 autoimmune diseases as well and I just received another diagnosis. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that. It brings it’s challenges but you are exactly right life is a gift and it just makes us appreciate life even more. π
This was so nicely put. Very poetic. I really identify with the part you just found out and you now understood why you had been suffering for so long.
Thank you so much! And it’s weird to think that receiving a diagnosis is almost relieving but it’s an explanation why you’ve been suffering. Thank you for reading π
No problem. I can’t wait to read what’s next.

Your poem touched me! π I have a new friend with Lupus and Iβm just beginning to fathom the gravity of her life with a chronic illness. She is brave and is inspiring and teaching me about her struggles and successes every time we meet!
Thank you so much!!π and I’m sorry to hear about your friend, but best wishes to you both! Thank you for sharing your story! π
Nice to hear back from you Mackenzie! I hope your day is going rather well π
Thank you so much! It is! I hope your day is going well also! π
Home from work, planning a nice meal and reading WP! Doesnβt get much better than this on a rainy Fall night π Did someone mention wine? π
You’re exactly right! It getting pitch black at 6:00pm is a fireplace, writing a blog and a definetely wine kind of night! π sounds like a good Thursday night for both of us! π
And I didnβt even have to mention chocolate to achieve this blissful state! Appreciating the small things π High five to you!
Chocolate is always a pairing with the wine for me! π
I would probably pass out with the double pleasure of that!
Iβd need at least a 5 minute delay between the exquisite flavours haha!
Haha I completely understand! After a long week we need that kind of pampering of chocolate and wine!
This is a universal truth for happiness, and Thursday night survival sista! I’ll pour you a glass immediately π
Save me a glass! π
Get here fast, it might evaporate π
Truthfully, I’m a half glass kinda gal so there shall always be some for my new friend π
I will! And I am too! π
